St. George FHExpo 2011 – Day 1

This last weekend was the St. George Family History Expo. Like always, it was another great event with lots of people, great speakers and an awesome vendor hall. The blogging and tweeting on Friday were a little limited however because of the Internet connection issues some of us were having. I was one of the unfortunate ones that was having a difficult time connecting, so what tweeting I was able to do was done from my iPhone. Even though my computer was having difficulty connecting to the Internet, luckily my iPad was connecting just fine. I was concerned that I would not have any wireless connection on my iPad for my Mobile Apps class, but everything went smoothly. This is the third time I have given this particular presentation and I must say it is so fun! Just like at RootsTech, one of the busiest booths in the vendor hall was the Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner booth. I wanted to get one of the scanners for both my aunt as well as my sister-in-law, so I rushed to the booth as soon as the vendor hall opened. I did not want them to run out like they did at RootsTech. I also used one of their scanners to do a review of their EasyStitch software for Mac. I made a little video of me doing a demonstration of the Flip-Pal scanner. I will post more about that in the coming week. After the classes and vendor hall closed for the day, I was invited to attend the evening banquet featuring M. Bridget Cook. This evening with Bridget talking about some of her books and her experiences with the people in them was amazing! The topic of her presentation was about the "skeletons in your closet" - what secrets and stories are there in your family history that you or your family have kept hidden for years? I will be talking more about this amazing presentation in another blog post.
